"Fifty per cent of our business is generated through golf. The Ryder Cup Wales Seniors event, the continuing success of Royal St. David's Golf Club and the enormous increases in golf tourism to North Wales have given us the confidence to expand our business. Without golf there is no way we would have done it."
A Golf Marketing Cluster called Cambrian Coast cluster has been set up and supported by Visit Wales, including Royal St David's, Nefyn, Aberdovey, Pwllheli, Porthmadog, Abersoch and Caernarfon Golf Club
In the all-important area of golf development - where the future of the sport is nurtured - North Wales is working hard. For example at Holyhead Golf Club, there are regular beginner coaching and fun sessions with trained coaches from the club. Frequent competitions designed to encourage girls to keep playing are also held.
From Anglesey to Wrexham, North Wales is benefiting and responding to the opportunities provided by The Ryder Cup. Our businesses, golf players and visitors can only win.
Brenda Wyn Evans of the Events Commission: "The Events Commission has been a proud sponsor of Ryder Cup Wales' events and we have worked together to bring major golfing events to North Wales. The events highlight what is great about North Wales, both on and off the course, and they also bring major benefits to the local economy during the event week and long after the event has taken place."
